The municipality of Alasehir, located in the Aegean region of Turkey, continues to save money in its budget through growing seeds, flowers and plants in its own greenhouses.
The municipality officials note that the annual savings of the municipality thanks to this operation are approximately 170,000 USD. The greenhouses are managed by the Parks and Gardens Department of the municipality. Currently, 41,000 winter flowers and 62,000 summer flowers are being grown in these greenhouses.
Alasehir mayor Ahmet Okuzcuoglu: “We are now growing our flowers and plants in our own greenhouses. We keep trying to find ways to save costs for our municipality and by taking the production in our own hands, we were able to save significant amounts of money in our budget.“
