Iskender Uygunbas, a lawyer from Istanbul, moved away to the Seydikemer district of Mugla and decided to grow moss for export. Covering 0.25 hectares of pools with greenhouse covers, the grower started with moss production after importing necessary raw materials for production. The products, which are later processed in the laboratory of this production facility, are later exported to Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Russia, Iran, and Azerbaijan. The production volume is around 400 kilograms per month.
This particular moss variety is used in the world as a supportive product in the treatment of cancer and autism. The grower has already received permission to grow 4 more particular varieties of moss. Grower Iskender Uygunbas: “Only 3 companies in the world are growing these products. We are becoming the 4th company in the world and soon we will expand our production facility to 1 hectare.”
