D.H.M. Innovations introduces QUARTZ ‘Pink & Yellow’

New dipladendia that is "solid as quartz"

"It is a stand-alone variety in the Diamantina assortment", says Erick Ciraud of D.H.M. Innovations (DHMI) at the IPM Essen, when talking about their new dipladenia QUARTZ ‘Pink & Yellow’. According to him, it is a breakthrough variety.

Making it a breakthrough variety is, according to Erick Ciraud, the fact that this new Dipladenia hybrid presents visual similarities to a sanderi type. "It has some relationship with the sanderi, like the flower shape, it is easy to root, fast to grow, early to bloom, and has lots of flowers."

‘Pink & Yellow’ is the first variety introduced in the newly named series QUARTZ. Erick Ciraud explains that the name QUARTZ has been chosen after the stone that features one of the strongest resistance among the world of semi-precious stones. "As ‘Pink & Yellow’ and the future varieties of the QUARTZ series will be extremely solid and resistant to bad weather conditions and sun exposure, we named the series QUARTZ, solid as quartz."

Diamantina QUARTZ ‘Pink & Yellow’ also introduces a new flower color combination to the market. "The variety has dark pink petals with a yellow throat, for a very distinctive look compared to any other varieties.”

QUARTZ ‘Pink & Yellow’ is semi trialing and one of the eleven novelties in the Diamantina product line that will be introduced this year. At the IPM Essen trade show, that took place in January in Germany, DHMI showcased this variety for the first time. According to Erick Ciraud, the reactions have been very positive. "Visitors liked the bright colors and the many blooms!”
