First spring flowers popping up over the Arctic Circle

Even though it is long until the spring greenery starts showing up, spring flowers can be seen already today. The growers, working over the Arctic Circle have grown thousands of spring symbols ahead of time. Tulips are not the most demanding flowers and yet appreciate good care.

“We treat them carefully in order not to harm the leaves, or else they change color. It should be 50% ready, not entirely green, we try to pack them carefully so that they do not open too early”, shares the agronomist of LLC Tsvety Zapolyarya, Ms. Margarita Savkova.

The enterprise begin preparation for spring holidays in September, when they plant alliaceous flowers. As of today, the growers are 60% prepared for the International Women’s Day but there is yet enough time to complete all that is needed to be done. Tulips are favorite spring flowers and are always in demand.

“We have a lot of varieties now: over 25 of most professional ones, there are some exclusive kinds too”, shares the general director of LLC Tsvety Zapolyarya, Ms. Elena Gasyul. “The hit of the season are purple varieties, Barcelona and Anaconda. They are very reliable. This year we have received a group of strong ones. We have always known Strong Gold and this year we have grown some exclusive red varieties.”

The crops grown by the enterprise will be massively picked in the very end of February so that the tulips grown with love can arrive to the flowers shops on time before the holiday.
