British councils encouraged to recycle plant pots

The HTA continues to urge member businesses to contact their local council to strongly encourage them to commit to collecting and recycling non-black plant pots. There is a template letter members can use, and the HTA are asking for members to let them know the response by emailing policy@hta.org.uk

If members are not sure if their local council collects or not, please email policy@hta.org.uk with the name of your council and the HTA will tell you if they are on the list.

The template letter, which may be amended, can be found here, along with details on how best to send the letter and further information on the campaign.

Currently, there are only 40 councils in the UK out of 408 who collect recyclable plant pots, according to the HTA. "After the industry’s hard work to introduce the recyclable pot we must encourage local councils to do more to recycle pots. Please share the letter with other employees within your business or your other contacts involved in horticulture", the association states.
