Aldi launches Fairtrade rose bouquet for Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fornight takes place across 24th February – 8th March. Aldi is the largest Fairtrade retailer in the UK for flowers, and, as part of its commitment to Fairtrade, supports the ‘Dignity for All’ project, to which the supermarket has pledged £200,000 over four years. The local project supports 11,000 flower farm workers in Ethiopia – one of which is Herburg Roses – and delivers training to workers on women’s empowerment and equality in the workplace, as well as equality for those with disabilites.

Working exclusively with Herburg Roses, the supermarket has launched the Fairtrade Rose Bouquet (£6.99), now on sale. The bouquet is a blooming bunch of 25 white, pink, yellow, orange and ruby red 40 cm Fairtrade Roses roses. The Rose Bouquet is encased in very special packaging featuring one of the workers involved in the project.

Julie Ashfield, Buying Director at Aldi, commented: “Aldi is a very proud sponsor of the ‘Dignity for All’ project, which goes beyond the farm Aldi sources its roses from, to provide support and training to flower farm workers in Ethiopia, which is why we are very pleased to be launching the Fairtrade Rose Bouquet in time for Fairtrade fornight.”
