"Especially in this COVID-19 period, it is even more important to have a good vase life, in order to give you as a florist just that little extra time to sell your flowers, if necessary", says Wouter Duijvesteijn of Beyond Chrysant. He is pleased to announce that, after years of extensive testing, their vase life has improved even further.
"10 years ago, when we started with pre-cooling, we made a major step. And the fun thing is that we are, sometimes surprisingly, able to continue to improve the vase life."
In this amusing video above, this Dutch grower wants to bring up a bit of positivism during this COVID-19 crisis. A bunch of flowers that is flowering for weeks. The consumer is enjoying it longer, but also the florist will have a bit extra time to sell the product, as well as the entire chain, which then has a stronger product.
The key? According to Duijvesteijn, it is a combination of different factors. "We have identified a number of points for improvement in our own production process, which have further improved our vase life. This varies from cultivation to packaging, etc. The fact that we have taken the right steps is also evident from the tests that we had carried out at various authorities in the past period."
“I visit a lot of clients in Russia, and even further in Siberia, where flowers arrive after two weeks. And still fresh flowers are coming out of the box. The next time, I will also make a video of that, I think that is the coolest way to show it.”
