Marginpar is always looking for new ways to be even more sustainable. One of the latest achievements is an investment in new types of LED lights. These special light treatments at Marginpar farms save an enormous amount of energy.
Old energy savers
The new LED lights target the plants with only the light spectrum needed for the process they need to carry out. Whether it is for lengthening stems, producing berries or growing flowers.
New LEDs: The white light bulbs turn red when switched on.
By targeting the plants with only the light they need, Marginpar has cut power use from the old 100W incandescent bulbs, down to, in some cases, just a 3W LED.
That results in a 97% saving on power. It also leads to a huge reduction in light pollution. The light, and the electricity used to create it, is no longer being lost into the sky, but focused on that what we want to be illuminated. Plus, LEDs have a longer life span, resulting in less plastic and electronic waste.
