"Excellent Mother's Day week" at Veiling Rhein-Maas

Veiling Rhein-Maas has realised a high-turnover Mother's Day week in 2020, despite the current Corona crisis. Mother's Day business was very successful regarding all market channels as well as logistical procedures and followed on from the good Easter business. The importance of Mother's Day business continues to be high for all market channels. Overall, the second quarter has been positive for Veiling Rhein-Maas so far.

Growth in digital market channels
Since the end of March, Veiling Rhein-Maas has implemented multiple measures to comply with the safety regulations relating to the Coronavirus in the auction room. As a result of these measures and current developments, the digital market channels in particular have recorded strong growth in recent weeks. Turnover and participation increased in comparison to the same period of the previous year for Clock pre sales and Remote Buying. In addition, the Webshop of Veiling Rhein-Maas also generated significantly higher sales due to higher customer participation.

Good price level
Overall, Veiling Rhein-Maas achieved a good price level for both cut flowers and potted plants during the Mother's Day week. Popular potted plants were herbs and vegetables, terrace plants, hanging baskets, high-quality bowls and arrangements as well as orchids. At cut flowers, demand was particularly high for roses, eustoma, peonies, tulips, summer cuttings and bouquets. As usual, outdoor plants were fewer demanded from the middle of the Mother's Day week.

Together with our customers, suppliers and employees, we are doing everything possible to maintain smooth business operations under the given circumstances. In this context, we would like to thank our customers and suppliers for the good cooperation, their trust and understanding and especially all employees for their commitment in these challenging times", explain Günther Esser and Cees Hoekstra, Managing directors of Veiling Rhein-Maas.
