That’s the same day the Flower Market re-opens!

British Flowers Week begins next week on Monday, 15 June.

British Flowers Week is a New Covent Garden Market led national celebration of all things British flowers, foliage and plants. For this and next year the theme for British Flowers Week is ‘Healing’. "We want to celebrate the amazing soothing and calming effect cut flowers, foliage and plants can have", the organizers say. "We’re asking people all over the UK to put all things British Flowers in their windows, ideally where they can be seen and appreciated by passers-by. This could be a single stem, a simple bouquet or even a drawing or picture." As friends of New Covent Garden Market they ask everyone to join them and take a photo of flowers in one's window and share on social media using #BritishFlowersWeek and tagging @MarketFlowers to celebrate the healing power of flowers, foliage and house plants.

Each day of the week they're publishing floral workshops showing how to create amazing displays using British blooms, including a mantel piece from Shane Connolly and a tablescape from JamJar Flowers. Cyrill Tronchet will be doing a handtied and Tattie Rose is doing an urn design. Simon Lycett will also be showing us his British Flowers Week's creations and will be hosting interesting interviews with flower friends including Shane Connolly.

"Share your British Flowers Week window to social media using @MarketFlowers and #BritishFlowersWeek for a chance to win awesome British flower themed prizes. With categories including; adults, children, florists and other businesses and judged by New Covent Garden Market resident florist Ruari McCulloch of Pinstripes and Peonies."

Their British Flowers Week website includes lots of downloadable tools to help consumers to create a beautiful British Flowers Week Window in ones home or business; including how to guides, the British Flowers Week flag and stencils.

Check out their website to join in or feel free to get in touch here if you’d like more information or support.
