Video case study series shines light on Australian nursery industry

Video is becoming an increasingly important medium for the levy-funded Nursery industry communications program (NY18001), to share information to equip growers and production staff with the latest levy funded information and resources to help grow their businesses.

Project provider, Cox Inall Communications, has recently completed a series of three videos which showcase how various growers across the country have been able to leverage levy-funded research and outputs to improve operations, whether that be through marketing, quality assurance or disaster recovery.

Check out the videos below.

Case Study – Benara Nurseries
This case study discusses how research-based information delivered through the nursery levy funded marketing programs can improve customer-relationships and drive greater business results. It features Benara Nurseries’ sales and marketing manager, Carol Fudge; Director, Gavin James; and Ben Peacock, Republic of Everyone.

Case Study – Touchwood Nursery
This case study highlights the value of adhering to best-practice plant protection programs such as NIASA and provides practical guidance for how this enhances customer confidence and ensures continued business viability. Featuring National Biosecurity Manager at GIA, John McDonald, and Ben Archibald, owner of Touchwood Nursery.

Case Study – Oasis Horticulture
The nursery industry is vulnerable to natural disasters. This case study discusses the importance of implementing risk mitigation strategies to build resilience and ensure business continuity. It features David Jakobs, CEO, Oasis Horticulture and Kerry Battersby, Recovery and Resilience Manager, NGIQ.

You can also access a series of written case studies on the Greenlife Industry Australia website here.

BONUS – Facts at a Glance
The communications team doesn’t just tell individual stories, sometimes it’s useful to look at the industry as a whole and according to the Nursery Industry Statistics 2018-19 report, the Australian greenlife production industry is currently valued at approximately $2.44 billion and employs almost 25,000 people across 1,651 production businesses.

The annual Facts at a Glance document presents a snapshot of the industry and its progress, providing statistics that highlight the contribution the nursery industry makes to Australian horticulture.
