tours will continue all summer long

An impression of Selecta one's individual virtual tours

You may not be able to feel, touch or sniff it, but you can see it and ask all the information you need. By displaying their varieties virtually, Selecta one did and are still doing their utmost best to bring their creations and concepts to the attention of the industry since shows, events and open days all have been cancelled over the last months.  For about a month now,  they are organizing individual virtual tours in a digital showroom. They will continue the tours all summer long and in this article we give a peek.

In May, at the greenhouse at their headquarters in Stuttgart, they built up a showcase and started making the videos. "When we heard that all events were cancelled, we - like many other breeders - decided to show our varieties digitally. We built up the displays in the greenhouse in Stuttgart and started to make the 360 degrees videos. Also, we decided to give individual tours, so growers, buyers from the trade, press and anybody who is interested can make an appointment with their contact person. In this way, we tried to make the experience as much 'face-to-face' as possible", says Milena Weller of Selecta one.

In the last month, they've already had a lot of growers and retailers 'in the showroom' and so far, the reactions are positive and many are surprised by the amount of work they've put in it. "We are no professional filmmakers, so it was something completely new to us. We tried to make it look like as if you are in the greenhouse. Of course, in a physical tour one can touch, feel and sniff the plant, but from the reactions we received, this set-up gives a good overview.

So, how does it work? Weller: "Together with your contact person at Selecta, you go through the greenhouse virtually. You can stop anywhere, check the varieties and click on the "info" button to get a close-up picture of the plant and more information."

Below an impression of the concepts, current bedding and balcony plants as well as the range of pot carnations that are on display in the virtual show room.

The varieties and concepts displayed similarly how they would have been displayed at events like FlowerTrials, for example.

The Dianthus series: I♥U  (the abbreviation for the universal love message “I love you”), for example.
