"It is great to be in a position whereby we can confidently look forward"

The Bransford Webbs Plant Company is looking forward to 2021 and the future, following the most turbulent few months the nursery has ever had to navigate in its 60-year history.

As with the whole of the horticultural industry, Bransford Webbs has witnessed an unprecedented few months and have had to make some tough but essential decisions during this time. They are now in a position to look forward to the future with positivity.

Following some difficult production decisions in April which led to shortages throughout early summer, crops are now filling the nursery for 2021 sales. Large numbers of early season promotions, such as Hebes and Hellebores, are now on the ground and looking good for next year.

Last October, building began on a new production area, covering 17,000 m2 consisting of 49 low polytunnels, increasing production capacity by 20%, and due for completion by March 2020. All building work was halted during the height of the Coronavirus outbreak; however, work has re-commenced and the tunnels now house a range of Hellebores for sales in autumn 2020 and spring 2021.

The 2021 brochure will be arriving with customers in the next few weeks and the nursery looks forward to helping them plan for a successful 2021 in their plant areas, with more than fifteen new varieties alongside tried and tested promotions and ranges.

Adrian Marskell, Managing Director said of the last few months, “After the difficulties of navigating our way through the lockdown period, it is great to be in a position whereby we can confidently look forward to 2021 and, along with our customers, get back to what we all do best – supplying great British grown plants to the UK public”.
