Walters Gardens will again be participating in the Michigan Garden Plant Tour, but due to ongoing public health concerns will be scaling back their services in order to keep our staff safe and gardens open. "We will not be able to offer in person tours this year or access to our facilities, greenhouses, or fields. If you do choose to visit us, we ask that you please follow social distancing guidelines and respect our visitor guidelines (precise guidelines to be posted at the time of the tours)."
Their Display Gardens will remain open and visitors are welcome to browse them at their leisure. As one of the largest supplier and breeders of perennials in North America, they have almost 1,000 varieties of classic and cutting edge plants available to see.
Visitors for the 2020 Michigan Garden Plant Tour can expect to see:
- The entire Proven Winners Perennial collection, which represents some of the very best perennials on the market.
- Freshly renovated Hosta and Daylily beds, representing our two largest perennial programs.
- A newly dedicated bed for our Hibiscus program.
- Our Mad About Mangave® line of succulents displayed on our patio and in a landscape bed.
"These may be unconventional times and an abnormal year for the tours, but we know the value of seeing new plants in person. Please consider carefully if you are able to safely join us, and respect recommended social distancing when touring our gardens so we may conduct a safe two weeks of tours."
