Ireland: Bloom in a Box flourishing on the back of patented flower gifting idea

‘A welcome twist on the age-old tradition of giving flowers’ is how Bloom in a Box founder Aveline O’Sullivan describes her business, which has flourished as people have tried to connect with loved ones during COVID-19.

Galway entrepreneur O’Sullivan holds patents for Bloom in a Box’s innovative presentation box in the UK and Europe, putting her among the small number of female patent holders.

The patent is for the special insert, vial and seal that underpins every Bloom in a Box delivery, which consists of a single flower, artfully presented.

Speaking to Extra.ie, O’Sullivan says the special mechanism allows her to ‘turn this upside down multiple times, ship it in different temperatures and arrive perfectly without breaking.’
