New Zealand: More than 36,000 daffodils delivered around South Canterbury

Vintage cars dominated the streets of South Canterbury on Monday as part of the delivery of more than 36,000 daffodils to raise money for the Cancer Society.

While the fifth annual Vintage Car Club Daffodil Rally for Cancer, meant to take place on Sunday, has been postponed – club members spent the following day loading 23 vehicles with 1030 bunches comprising 36,200 flowers, distributing them to businesses around the region.

“I think people enjoy getting their flowers in vintage cars,” South Canterbury Cancer Society centre manager Leola Wilson said.

“We’re up about $515 from last year and given Covid, I’m just blown away by the generosity.”
