Golden KVBC Award for Cortaderia

On September 15, 2020, the KVBC trial committee awarded a golden KVBC Award to Cortaderia selloana “Day1” (TINY PAMPA) after a field trial.

"This plant immediately stands out because it grows much more compactly than other cultivars. Eventually the plant will reach a height of about 60-75 cm. “Day1” produces many shoots and therefore many plumes. Another advantage of this is that the sub-factor is high, which makes propagation faster. The first plumes appear in summer. The plant continues to flower until autumn. The plumes do not rise far above the narrow, dark green foliage and the narrow leaf tips "are therefore always visible between the plumes."

“Day1” is unique in its compact and low growth habit, the very rich production of flower panicles and the long time over which they appear. The plant can be planted in pots, in gardens and in public green spaces."

A detailed description is published in Dendroflora No. 56, which will be released in early 2021.
