Wednesday 28th October, 2020:

AU: Spring Blueming - Virtual event on the importance of green industries to mental health

Greenlife Industry Australia is proudly supporting an initiative of ICL Specialty Fertilizers' local staff to take some time to acknowledge and thank their staff for all they have done in 2020 to support the mental wellbeing of the community.

Throughout this period the public has made it clear how much they value the importance of gardens, greenspaces and recreational turf, and benefits to their mental wellbeing.

ICL has partnered with Beyond Blue to acknowledge the incredible period for the greenlife industries across the country, enduring the worst drought and bushfires in history and then adapting business operations to the changing restrictions and border controls in place as a result of Covid-19.

On Wednesday 28th October, ICL will host a virtual Spring Blueming event featuring keynote speaker Jason Hodges on the importance of green industries to mental health. All industry businesses are invited to join in by hosting a morning tea or lunch in celebration of their staff. Your invitation is here.

“The green industry should be even more proud to do what we do to create and maintain the green infrastructure of our cities and towns. We often don’t value how much we contribute to the mental wellbeing of the nation,” says Roger Boyle, ICL Regional Sales Manager Vic/SA/Tas.

“We are inviting all businesses to celebrate their staff and join in with this greenlife community event. We know that not all businesses will be able to make the scheduled time, so we are recording Jason’s presentation so you can host your event later in the evening or perhaps a breakfast the following day.”

Participating is easy and it is an opportunity for us, as an industry, to ask our staff how they are coping with the pressures of 2020 and raise funds for Beyond Blue, through gold coin donations and employer contributions.

Sign up today and celebrate our achievements.

Arrange a lunch or morning tea for your staff on 28 October 2020 between 1.00pm- 1.30pm AEDST.

Register your involvement here. When you register before 17 October a poster pack with balloons, serviettes and Beyond Blue support information will be forwarded in advance for your event.

On 28 October, ‘go all out’ to decorate your morning tea or lunch venue in the Spring Blueming theme. Provide your staff with a deliciously tasty spread and take lots of photos of your event. Make sure you join the virtual event via the link to see your participating colleagues around the country and importantly, to hear Jason Hodges' message at 1pm sharp. Finally, share your photos with ICL for a chance to win the ‘best-themed event’ prize.

On the day, encourage staff to make a gold coin donation for Beyond Blue. Details on how to donate your Spring Blueming event proceeds will be provided shortly.

“I support and applaud this initiative from ICL’s Australian staff. The mental health and well-being of the staff who are ensuring our ‘essential’ industry remains open is paramount. Providing the country with the greenlife and greenspace they deserve cannot be achieved without the 23,000 men and women working so hard within our industry,” said Peter Vaughan, CEO of Greenlife Industry Australia.

“We will be hosting lunch at the GIA offices and will be encouraging our remote team members to join in.”

It is important to note that this is not a consumer event, but rather a celebration of the industry. Businesses are also reminded that morning teas and lunches should comply with social distancing and COVID-19 safety protocols relevant to your State Authority.
