In the past months, Albers Alligator developed and brought to market the Alligator SiloDome together with Buwatec and BUWADome.
The SiloDome is a water silo cover with a maximum capacity of Ø 15.00 meters which completely seals off the silo. When the water surface doesn’t get completely sealed, algae can form on the edges, and with standard covers, there are always edges exposed because of this solution, that is no longer the case. The system deflects rainwater.
The frame is built on the outside of the silo. Martin Spekle, Albers Alligator: “The installation is easy and fast. The frame is made of lightweight aluminum. Because the system is built on the outside, you can easily get to it. It takes about three to four hours to cover the silo completely.”

On the silo’s edge
Thanks to the aluminum frame, the construction is light and can be installed on the edge of new and existing water silos without any problems. The girders of the SiloDome are mounted on special brackets placed on the edge of the silo. According to Martin, it is not needed to reinforce the silo’s foundation to install the system. “The middle of the frame is supported by an aluminum pole. The cover tightened around the silo using elastic. There is no need to reinforce the water silo because of the systems' light weight.”
Since the introduction of Alligator SiloDome and BUWADome, over 100 have been delivered and installed both nationally and internationally this year.
