The organization of Fruit Logistica has published its plans for Fruit Logistica 2021 today. With the current Corona-restrictions in place, the organization has chosen to move the event to May, starting on Tuesday the 18th and running to Thursday the 20th. They have acknowledged that the new date may not be optimal for everyone, but the move makes it more likely that a larger audience from all around the world will be allowed to attend. On top of that, postponing the event will give everyone three extra months to make plans for the event.
The concept of Fruit Logistica will also be adjusted to a more flexible and simple format. Although the event will take place in a physical form, there will be more digital elements implemented, like holding meetings or broadcasting a conference. This edition will also have a so-called turn-key concept, in which the organization will be taking care of building the stands, exhibitors can choose between three packages for the build and interior. This should limit the risk in exhibiting as much as possible. Exhibitors can cancel without penalties up to four weeks before the event. The 'hall concept' is also a thing of the past in this special edition. For example, companies are not automatically classified by country, but by activity.
The organization is aware that this will significantly reduce the total fair surface area, but will focus on the quality and not the quantity of visitors and exhibitors. In addition to the existing Fruit Logistica Innovation Award, innovations will also play an important role. The possibility of presenting products and meeting buyers is central to the event. For that reason, a new buyers program will also be introduced this year. Fruit Logistica will reveal the new details of the program on 23 October.
