Online media explores two large over 650-hectare modern agricultural industrial parks in South China

With nearly 4700 hectares of agricultural land, Mengli Water Town is the greatest confidence in the development of modern agriculture featuring the flower industry. On this land, Lishui has become the "Famous Chinese Perfume Lily Town", the largest Phalaenopsis production and sales base in South China, and the "Provincial Modern Agricultural Industrial Park for Horticulture".

On October 28th, the editors of news media from more than 50 cities across the country came to Lishui, Nanhai, and visited the modern agricultural industrial park in Nanhai District.

At present, Nanhai District is making full efforts to create two provincial modern agricultural industrial parks, namely, the Floricultural and Horticultural Modern Agricultural Industrial Park in Nanhai District, Foshan City, and Jiujiang Yuhua Production Park, Nanhai District, Foshan City.

Invest 300 million RMB to build 2400 hectare of "Flower World"

Driving from Guangzhou Baiyun Airport, walking along the highway for less than an hour, you came to one of the four main implementation entities of the Nanhai District Flower Gardening Industrial Park-Wanqing Horticulture World.

Walking into the orchid greenhouse here, the temperature is pleasant, dry, and ventilated. The huge greenhouse distributes Phalaenopsis seeds and finished products in a regular manner. Workers are busy spraying and pruning the Phalaenopsis seeds... throughout the year, flowers bloom continuously here.

As the core area of the Flower and Horticulture Industrial Park in Nanhai District, currently, there are nearly 100 florists engaged in the Phalaenopsis industry in the park. In 2018, the output of various orchids was more than 29 million, accounting for nearly 25% of the national output.

Lishui Town is one of the largest phalaenopsis production bases in South China, with a planting area of more than 100 hectares. There are more than 300 phalaenopsis production enterprises. The annual production and sales of phalaenopsis exceed 40 million, and the annual output value exceeds 500 million RMB.

In addition to the dominant industries of Phalaenopsis, Lishui's advantages in the lily and small pot planting industries are also particularly obvious. The planting area, output, and sales are all at the forefront of Guangdong Province. In 2018, the town produced more than 19 million lilies, with an output value of 250 million RMB. Up to now, the Lily Flower Culture Festival has been held for 9 consecutive times, with the annual flow of reaching 100 thousand every year. The name of "Flower Town" has long been known throughout the Pearl River Delta.

"The area of flower planting in Nanhai District exceeds 4000 hectares, of which over 2000 hectares of flowers are planted in Lishui, accounting for about 53.33% of the total area." The relevant person in charge of the Agricultural and Rural Bureau of Nanhai District said.

Specifically, the Nanhai District Floricultural and Horticultural Modern Agricultural Industrial Park Project has a total investment of 330 million RMB and an area of over 2000 hectares. The core sections include Guangdong Wanqing Horticulture World, Mengli Flower Field, Mengli Water Town Flower Gardens, and Nanhai Flower Expo Garden.

The construction period of the project is 2019-2022. After the industrial park is fully completed, the total agricultural output value of the flower industry park (including ornamental fish) is expected to reach 2 billion RMB, and the output value of the leading industry (flowers) of the industrial park is expected to reach 1.5 billion RMB. The per capita income of farmers is about 35,000 RMB, which is more than 15% higher than the average level of farmers in Lishui Town. The area that can radiate the development of the horticultural industry in the surrounding area is over 6000 hectares.
