The #1 favourite is the Aloe Vera
People seem to love a plant that can multitask, and the trusty Aloe Vera does just that. "Not only does it look great, but it also has medicinal properties, being used for everything from treating burns to settling an upset stomach."

Methodology:

  • Houseplant Trends:
Using Google Trends data, we analysed the popularity of over 100 houseplants over the past decade. We were able to do this by finding the percentage increase in popularity of each plant between the time frames of 2010-2015 & 2015-2020 respectively.
  • Most Popular:
Using the common and scientific name for each plant, we took worldwide historical search data from October 2019 - September 2020 and found the houseplants with the highest combined search volume.
