The cyclamen season is in full swing and the poinsettia season is about to take off in Italy. Due to the caution by the growers in the order phase due to Covid-19, there are less products on the market, but for the cyclamen it turned out well as prices were better for everyone. "Let's hope the same goes for the poinsettia sales," Andrea Lazzeri Product Manager of Lazzeri Società Agricola a r.l., an Italian breeder and young plants company who recently launched his 2021 catalogs.

"The poinsettia market in the South was still at a standstill last week, but in the center and north there were the first to load poinsettias. However, the poinsettia sales often really take off in Italy with Immaculate Conception day, which is on December 8," says explains Lazzeri. According to their estimates, there will be less poinsettias on the Italian market this year, because there was more caution in the order phase due to Covid. "We hope for a good poinsettia sale since we all stay at home and a poinsettia is part of Italian customs."
Poinsettia's for 2021
For Lazzeri Società Agricola a r.l., the young plant season is over and is already preparing for the 2021. Their new catalog consists of 33 varieties, including the new “Superba Poker.” "This is a new way to propose poinsettia as it is composed of a set of 4 different colors." The whole production process of the young plants takes place in Sabaudia, south of Rome, and are therefore 100% Made in Italy.
Also for cyclamen, the production was less than previous years. The prices, in contrast, were better for everyone in 2020. In turn, it could result in an increase for next season, Lazzeri hopes.
Cyclamen, but also Chrysanthemum and Aster, for 2021
So, what will Lazzeri has to offer for next season? Together with the chrysanthemum and aster, Lazzeri presents their new cyclamen in their new 2021 catalog. "We are proud to have in our assortment breeders like Morel, Schoneveld and Syngenta. Also the production of these products take place Sabaudia as it has favorable environmental conditions to production of high-quality cyclamens. Young plants are cultivated in spaced strips, every single plant is subject to the same conditions of air, water, light, developing naturally homogeneous cyclamens. The regular standard of young plants is reflected in the final product, so cyclamens made by customer will be uniform in growth and flowering."
