US: 'Covid 'micro wedding' offer opportunities for this rent-and-return faux flower business'

Silk Stem Collective, a rent-and-return faux flower business, is profiting from a new type of wedding during the Covid pandemic. This local small business is catering to "micro weddings," trendy mini-events growing in popularity due to social gathering restrictions. The business began in April but has already seen promising results.

"Launching a business amid a pandemic was terrifying but we saw an untouched market opening up and couldn't pass up the opportunity," says Silk Stem Collective founder Amanda Rapacz. "Many couples planning micro weddings need affordable flowers and we provide high quality faux floral rentals to fill that need. Even though pandemic couples are having much smaller events and order size is small, the orders just keep coming in. The pandemic has been great for business."

Her contactless method of shipping faux flowers has proved convenient but it's the affordable prices during a tough economic time that draws most pandemic couples. Renting faux flowers through Silk Stem Collective is on average 70% cheaper than hiring a fresh flower florist which is appealing to many budget-savvy couples.
