Cut flower production continues uninterrupted in the Aksu district of Antalya, the center for cut flower production in Turkey. An entrepreneur grower, Hayrettin Ozcaki produces carnations and cut flowers in an area of 4 hectares and has also started the export of peonies. The grower started peony production 3 years ago and he entered the cut flower production 12 years ago. The grower currently grows carnations in greenhouses covering 3 hectares and peonies in a 1-hectare greenhouse.
Noting that they harvest 5 million stems of carnations and 2 million stems of peonies every year, the grower adds that they export their flowers mostly to the Netherlands, Russia, and Italy. The grower adds that they contribute to the economy by sending flowers to the world in 25 varieties and colors and their sale price to the export markets is around 0.05 USD per stem.
