100% made in Italy
The whole production process is 100% made in Italy, it takes place in Sabaudia 100 km south of Rome. From mother plants to rooting greenhouses. "There is a short journey, no flight, everything happens in a day," says Andrea Lazzeri, Product Manager at the company.
Breeding, selection, rooting
When talking about breeding, the poinsettia breeding at Lazzeri is strongly focused on achieving outstanding genetics for the grower and the end consumer, explains Lazzeri.
Then, the selection takes place. "An important part of our production process is the annual flowering test with subsequent selection. The elite plants are propagated, cultivated, and brought to flower. Then we select according to strict criteria and renew the elite every year. Thanks to this process, every year we manage to maintain the characteristics that have made our varieties known."
Finally, the rooting stage. "For this phase, we have developed our own control program with predominantly biological means, which allows customers to use of beneficial insects."
Mother plants
What's important for clean starting material is a clean stock. "All our greenhouses are protected with insect-proof nets and double doors with strong fan. Strict controls are carried out continuously by trained personnel. In this way combined with regular use of biological and chemical pesticides, we guarantee mother plants and cuttings “clean”."
"On top of that, our whole range of poinsettia comes from a production site with a tested control system which ensures reliable and top-quality of cuttings. Certificate GLOBALG.A.P."
