Every day, SanLucar says it sells around 610,000 kilograms of fruit and vegetables from 35 growing countries worldwide. The assortment includes around 90 fruit and vegetable products of all varieties and flavours.
New market segment
As reported by the German Lebensmittel Zeitung, the company is now venturing into a new market segment with flowers and plants. Armin Rehberg, CEO Operations at SanLucar since 1 January 2021, is very familiar with this business segment. As the former head of the Landgard growers' cooperative, he headed the German market leader in flowers and plants.
"Excellent expansion of the product range".
In response to a question posed by CASH, a SanLucar spokesperson explains it is currently working on innovative flower and plant concepts - especially in the premium segment - and will present them to customers soon. "We think these will excellently complement the SanLucar core assortment with high-quality fruit and vegetables as well as the already existing supplementary assortments, for example Fresh Cut/Convenience or Smoothies/Juices", the company states.
This means it is quite possible that flowers from SanLucar will soon be available in Austria. After all, according to the company, SanLucar Flowers "will in future cover the entire SanLucar distribution area and thus also SanLucar's strategic customers." In Austria, as is well known, Rewe International is SanLucar's most important partner.
