Kalinkovo nursery have grown 11 million tulips and 800 thousand hyacinths for the International Women’s Day. This year’s crop is twice as big as the one of the last year.
The main volume of tulips of seven varieties will be delivered to Russia, mainly Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo and other cities as well as to Belarus. “We will send 10 million pieces outside the region; the rest will stay in Kaliningrad. We grow separate assortment for the local dwellers. In other Russian regions customers prefer flowers in pastel colors: light yellow and pink, while in Kaliningrad they love bright shades, including purple,” shared the commercial director of the enterprise, Ms. Elena Maltseva.
Right after the tulips and hyacinth season, the nursery will grow annuals for the city decoration as well as for private customers. Kalinkovo have built another greenhouse for houseplants, which are becoming increasingly popular. It has not been launched yet as the lighting system is yet to be montaged.
Kalinkovo is a biggest decorative plant and flower grower in Kaliningrad region. The complex of five ha includes a contemporary greenhouse for year round production, a nursery, offices, storage facilities and a laboratory.
