This year, Valentine's Day fell on Sunday, which in Polish conditions resulted in reduced sales of flowers in supermarkets, which remained closed that day. The weather was sunny and encouraged to walks, but at the same time it was frosty, which meant that there were no small open air selling points, focused on Valentine's Day. All these factors meant that, despite the pandemic, florists did not complain about the flower trade that day. The turnover was comparable to last year's, but at the same time, there were more customers of online stores offering ornamental plants than in 2020.
As in other countries, the rose remains the undisputed flower for Valentine's Day, and this year the wholesale markets did not complain about its sale or prices. When it comes to domestically produced ornamental plant species that are important in the Valentine's Day trade, tulip cut flowers are at the forefront.
