Chongming Smart Ecological Flower Park covers an area of over 20 hectares and is the first factory in China to realize the full automation of flower seedling cultivation. Half of the area of the Park is a flower nursery area. In the huge nursery area, there are only a few production personnel responsible for care and management.
It is introduced that after the production facilities of the Park are fully put into operation, it can support the simultaneous production of more than 400,000 plugs, and the annual output of 200 million flower seedlings and more than 10 million pots of potted flowers can be achieved throughout the year.
"The seeding line can sow 200,000 seeds in one hour. If it applied the way of manual seeding, a farmer can sow about 2,000 seeds per hour. If it is to reach 200,000 seeds in one hour, 100 workers are needed. Compared with the traditional method, the automated production line is more efficient, and the seeding quality is more stable."
Mr. Song Lei, the head of the production department in the Park, told the reporter that most of the workers are traditional growers in nearby villages. These automated equipment have turned them into factory workers or technicians. For these employees, they have changed from "on-field workers" to operators who only need to manage the operation of the machine, making work easier. For enterprises, it has effectively changed the high-cost and low-efficiency production model.
In addition, the Park uses the Priva greenhouse control system to effectively control the greenhouse's roof windows, wall windows, internal and external shading screens, and water and fertilizer integrated irrigation systems to achieve precise and informatized management of environmental parameters such as light, temperature, water, and fertilizer.
Mr. Song said that the high-quality development of the flower industry not only means planting good-quality flowers, but also means the formation of an automated, informatized, and intelligent agricultural production system, which is in line with international advanced technology and also is the future direction of the flower industry.
