NL: Foundations laid for Beekenkamp research and development center

On March 8, 2021, the Directors and their internal project group of the Beekenkamp Group, officially laid the foundations of a new breeding location on the Oranjepolder in Maasdijk. The “Beekenkamp Research and Development Center”, as the new location will be called, The Beekenkamp Research and Development Center is being built for Beekenkamp Plants and Deliflor for complete optimisation of their research and developments.

The Beekenkamp Research and Development Center focusses on delivering the best possible product for their entire global supply chain, which also contributes to the most efficient possibilities in their breeding process. Next to the new breeding facilities, there will be a section set up exclusively for elite material, to prepare starting material for their African production locations and their licensees. In addition, a new tissue culture lab is being built to enable the clean propagation of tissue culture material using modern techniques. This involves Beekenkamp Plants Vegetables, Beekenkamp Plants Ornamentals and Deliflor Chrysanten, who are part of the family business the Beekenkamp Group.

“The Beekenkamp Research and Development Center is a major step towards the strategic growth of Beekenkamp Plants Ornamentals. One of the goals is that we are a leading breeder with a wide and
high-quality range. To ensure that this location is optimally equipped, we have set up an internal project group. The location meets all wishes and requirements, both in theory and in practice. I am already very proud of the involvement and their commitment of our colleagues. I am very much looking forward having it up and running,” said Marc Driessen, Director Beekenkamp Plants Ornamentals.

Beekenkamp Group expects the Research and Development Center to be fully commissioned in early January 2022 after a short test period.
