Turkey: Eskisehir municipality uses the heat from the waste management facility to heat the flower greenhouses of the municipality

Eskisehir Metropolitan Municipality, which puts great importance on environmentally sensitive projects, produces electrical energy from Eskisehir's garbage with the Solid Waste Recycling and Energy Production Facility, which has been put into service on the Seyitgazi road.

The facility, which meets the daily electricity needs of 95,000 households when working at full capacity, transformed nearly 300,000 tons of waste in 2020 and produced 70 million kilowatts of electricity.

The Metropolitan Municipality uses the waste heat generated in the facility in the greenhouse it has established in 2018. Colorful flowers are grown in the greenhouse which are used to decorate parks and green areas of the city.

Eskisehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yilmaz Buyukersen: This facility provides both protection and development of the environment and meeting our energy needs without harming nature. "The city garbage dump, which was one of the biggest problems of the city in the 1990s, has become a place that produces electrical energy with the latest technology thanks to the Solid Waste Conversion and Energy Production Facility."
