Royal Van Zanten invests in alstroemeria sustainability

Through sustainable investments, Royal Van Zanten continues to be committed to optimising the quality of starting material and growing conditions. We are proud of having taken the next step in sustainability. For example, we recently invested in a new closed cultivation system, with LED lighting and enhanced insect screens. This supports our goal of zero-emissions cultivation.

Closed system
The new cultivation system is closed. The new system allows us to fully collect and reuse the drain water. This means the system fully complies with the standards for 2027.

Sustainability with an eye to the future
With the new growing conditions, we have even better control over plant quality. Less energy is expected to be required per plant produced, partly due to an increase in the number of plants in production. The arrival of OCAP in the Primavera area ensures a better CO2 supply. Having the required CO2 supply will make us less dependent on fossil fuels in the future. “This is in line with our strategy for a sustainable future with less energy consumption and optimal plant quality for our customers,” says Martijn Swinkels, Director of Production & Logistics.
