The bloom guard packaging concept of Weber Verpackungen is ideal for the protection and marketing of cut flowers, pot plants, herbs, and lettuce. It’s a great, environmentally friendly alternative for plastic sleeves currently used, suitable for both manual and automatic packing. In bloom guard, plants and flowers breath easily, sweat less, and will have a longer shelf life. With its look and feel, bloom guard emphasizes the naturalness of the plant. It’s made of FSC-certified paper and is printed with water-based inks.
Now the German producer offers an innovative bloom guard variant: bloom guard Mixed Paper. It is made entirely of paper but is wet-strength only where needed.
Since the lower part of the bag consists of approx. 5-7% wet-strength paper, it can easily be placed in water. The upper part of the bag (> 90%) consists of not wet-strength standard paper - this clever combination of materials makes the bloom guard Mixed Paper a very sustainable and cost-effective packaging solution.
"Most paper flower covers consist of striped, brown Kraft paper. However, when flowers are left in the water for some time, the package softens with the risk of tearing. That’s why we have now introduced a new packaging that combines the striped Kraft paper with an underlayer of wet-strength paper," says packaging consultant Olaf Amende. "We have added a new paper combination as an alternative option to our selection through an intelligent technical adaptation. In this way, we combine the best of both worlds. We retain an affordable durable paper cover with an optimum presentation."
After being used bloom guard Mixed Paper is 100% recyclable. The packaging can be developed entirely according to customer specifications and printed in all possible sizes, shapes, and 10 different colors.
