The A-Roo web shoppe thrives, now opened up to Canada

North America:"It offers growers the option to order smaller quantities on non business hours"

2020 turned out to be a good year for the floral industry, and not only for the large growers. In 2018, US packaging supplier A-ROO Company launched their web shoppe - which is mainly used by the smaller cut flower growers as they can easily order smaller quantities on non business hours – and it has grown substantially in the last year. Recently, they even opened up their web shoppe to Canada. “There has been much interest from growers there for packaging as well,” Becky Rowe Senior Sales Associate at A-ROO says.

2020 has been a good year
According to Rowe, last year went very well for them. “With the pandemic, more people were buying flowers to brighten up their homes while they had to isolate.” In turn, sales increased and they noticed an rise in demand, particularly from the businesses that grow cut flowers for retail sale. “They were looking for packaging options to promote their bouquets.”

Increase in demand from large and small growers
Both, from the large and small growers, they received more orders last year. And fortunately, since November 2018, A-ROO can better assist these smaller customers as they offered a convenient way to peruse their products and order what they need by launching the web shoppe. And their investment is paying off. The web shoppe has grown substantially in the last year. "We are able to offer a lower minimum than orders we process manually, which makes it more attractive to the smaller grower. On top of that, they can shop during non business hours; that is usually when these small businesses have the time to order supplies. And they can order any time.” Currently, for their web shoppe, their largest market is the smaller cut flower grower.

Clear sleeve and kraft paper sleeve.

Most popular items: kraft paper bouquet sleeves
The most popular items are the kraft paper bouquet sleeves. “Paper is recyclable and compostable, which is important to consumers nowadays.” Therefore, they continue to invest in this segment and lately, they added more sizes of paper bouquet sleeves, as well as decorative handle sleeves, and bouquet sheets to their assortment. However, trying to figure out what items to offer in the web shoppe was and still is the main challenge, explains Rowe. “We manufacture and stock many different floral and produce packaging, and wanted to offer what would be the most suitable packaging supplies for customers to order.”

Open up the web shoppe to Canada
A-ROO used to only supply their customers in the US, but recently, they decided to open up their web shoppe to Canada. “We see the interest from growers for packaging growing there.”

Sample kits
Eager to try out the A-ROO products? They offer sample kits of various product lines. “The cost for U.S. customers is $10.00 to cover shipping and handling of the sample kit, and the customer will receive a $15.00 coupon they can use on their first order. For Canadian customers, the cost is $20.00, and they received a $25.00 coupon.”
