Songjiang Power Supply inspects electricity consumption for the China Flower Expo

At present, the preparations for the 10th China Flower Expo have entered a critical period. On April 25, the service team of Songjiang Electric Power came to Wushe Town to carry out an electricity consumption inspection for the Base which covers an area of more than 8 hectares. The team members inspected ventilation, lighting, floor heating, sprinklers, water and fertilizer integrated irrigation systems, and other electrical equipment and power supply lines one by one to eliminate electricity defects and hidden dangers, and promote safe electricity knowledge to technicians. They also analyze economic operations costs, learn the base’s electricity demand to increase capacity, help companies save energy and increase production, and provide guarantees for the flower expo’s dedicated electricity for growth.

According to Mr. Chen Hongcai, technical director of the Base, flowers like warmth and wetness, and temperature and humidity control during seedling and growth are particularly important. For off-season flowers such as New York aster, additional light and water and fertilizer are needed to regulate the flowering period. For this reason, artificial lights are installed on the roof of the greenhouse and there is floor heating in the ground. In addition, the Flower Expo has extremely high requirements on the appearance of the flowers it supplies. After bred, the appearance of the flowers to be exhibited must be highly uniform, with uniform flower heads and crowns, and the same bright colors. To achieve all of this, it is necessary to rely on the all-electric-driven "water and fertilizer integration" irrigation system, which not only saves manpower but also improves the efficiency of fertilizer irrigation.

"Greenhouses rely heavily on electricity. To ensure the supply of 600.000 pots of flowers for the Flower Expo is the Base's top priority this year. It must be completed with high quality and quantity." Mr. Zhu Bin, head of the Wushe Flower Base, thanked the electric power company for providing a sufficient and stable power guarantee for the base. "Now the temperature, humidity, light, water and fertilizer supply in the greenhouse can be accurately controlled, and the suitable environment for the growth of various flowers can be simulated, and the blooming period has been artificially postponed to ensure that all kinds of flowers bloom as scheduled during the Expo."
