Brandkamp is well known for their chrysanthemums and fuchsias and recently, this German breeder and young plant grower expanded their assortment with pelargoniums. Even though their varieties are relatively new in the industry, their series, named Solfaro, already gained a good foothold in the market in just a few years. In order to secure and expand this success and to complete the range, Brandkamp greatly invests in breeding and for the next, 2021/2022, season, a total of 6 new Solfaro varieties will be launched, including 5 Zonal varieties and one Peltate.
Below, Sales Manager Jürgen von den Driesch will present the new varieties.
Solfaro Funchal
"With bright, large red flowers, Solfaro Funchal will enhance the classic pelargonium color in the range. In addition to the large flowers, Brandkamp says that the even growth of the variety is impressive. "The dark green zoned foliage and very good self-branching complete the positive picture.
Solfaro Anadia
Solfaro Anadia offers large flower umbels in dark pink, a very popular color among pelargoniums. Like most dark-leaved pelargoniums, the variety grows compactly and therefore needs little inhibitor.
Solfaro Horta
Solfaro Horta shows a two-tone white flower with a large red center. "The fresh green foliage without a zone goes well with this." The breeders at Brandkamp are convinced that this color combination will be particularly popular in mixed boxes and plantings.
Solfaro Valongo
Solfaro Valongo, a well-filled flower in a fresh pink with fresh green foliage with no zone. A pelargonium for a young audience that can be combined well with other pink flowers such as hanging petunias.
Solfaro Aveiro
Also pink, but not so heavily filled, with a darker leaf with a zone, is Solfaro Aveiro. The compact growth allows a good surface coverage, just like with Solfaro Funchal and Solfaro Anadia.
Solfaro Lourosa
The only new Peltate is Solfaro Lourosa, dark pink flowers over dark foliage with a zone and, above all, good self-branching, which is not always the case with Peltates, Brandkamp adds.
In addition to the new colors, Brandkamp is happy to get more and more new varieties that get by with little inhibitor due to their growth, but still offer a good performance in the pot, as they are aware that this point will become more important in the future.
