AU: Grower survey underway to gather insights on biosecurity incursions

A new grower survey is underway to gather insights and information on how to best manage biosecurity incursions.

Conducted by Australia’s national science agency CSIRO and Nursery and Garden Industry Queensland (NGIQ), this telephone survey will ask participants to comment on biosecurity incursions they’ve experienced and how business, industry, and government responses could be improved.

This survey is being delivered through the ‘Ensuring business continuity during biosecurity incursions – social and economic research learnings for the production nursery industry (NY18010) project, aiming to establish robust and effective management practices that minimize the risk of incursion and business interruption.

Production nurseries listed on the Greenlife Industry Australia Trade Register will be contacted for participation in this survey. Involvement is completely voluntary, and all responses will be anonymous and confidential.

This survey aims to understand the impact of biosecurity incursions on production nurseries, and how businesses are supported to continue operating when an emergency plant pests or disease has been detected. This information will be critical in developing efficient approaches to preparedness, response, recovery and return to business activities following an incursion.

The survey will only take around 15 minutes to complete. For more information or if you would like to participate, please contact NGIQ project lead Kerry Battersby at, [email protected] or on 0417 767 534.
