NL: Chrysanthemum world competes in sailing competition

On 9 September Dümmen Orange hosted more than 200 growers, wholesalers, and other players from the cut chrysanthemum world at the Dümmen Orange Sailing Event in Willemstad, the Netherlands. On the waters of the Hollands Diep River, the guests – spread over more than 20 boats – competed for the Harry Kloppenburg Memorial Cup.

With the sailing event, Dümmen Orange is reviving an old tradition, the last edition having taken place in 2015. The sailing event is first and foremost an informal get-together for all cut chrysanthemum professionals. Reinoud Hagen, Managing Director Cut Flowers at Dümmen Orange: "It is not only great fun, but it is also useful to meet up in this setting. As a value chain, we have strong ties to one another. The sailing event is an informal event and not a business meeting, of course, but on days like these we can share a lot of information as professionals which benefits us all and helps us to further improve on themes that affect the entire value chain, such as sustainability, cultivation optimization, and innovation."
