China: Good climate and good policies benefit Pingnan's flower growers

In recent years, Pingnan County makes full use of the provincial and municipal policies to support the development of the flower industry. They have built an alpine agricultural base in the province, and drive the local economy. At present, Pingnan County has a planting area of 684 hectares of flower seedlings.

"Pingnan County has a high altitude, large temperature differences between day and night, and has obvious characteristics of high mountain climate, making it suitable for planting off-season flowers," said Yu Zhaohui of Fujian Mingshi Huatian Horticulture Co., Ltd.

In addition to the unique natural environment, Yu Zhaohui pays attention to the relevant policies of Pingnan County to support the flower and seedling industry.

In September 2019, at the local Flower Industry Development Conference, the local bureau took the initiative to contact him to introduce the overall plan, development direction, and support policies of the Floral Park in Pingnan County in detail. After careful consideration, Mingshi Huatian officially settled in the park in April 2020.

"With the support of government policies, the company's greenhouse construction has been accelerated, and the production efficiency has been improved." Yu Zhaohui said that in addition to subsidizing the company's self-built tissue training building, the local government also subsidized the company at an amount of 200 RMB per m2 to build cultivation greenhouses, while reducing or exempting part of the land and greenhouse rents, "At present, the company has over 4 hectares of cultivation greenhouses and received a total of 4.5 million RMB in subsidies."

In order to increase the income of the locals through multiple channels, Pingnan County focuses on developing flower seedling planting bases in several townships, combining with the nursery stock cultivation base to build a variety of ornamental gardens to attract tourists and guide consumption.
