Flower exporter straps boxes quickly and accurately

A flower exporter recently purchased some strapping machines from Steenks Service. The company explains why these machines are so useful.

Companies are increasingly looking for more efficiency in the chain. Whether this concerns the transport, processing, or packaging of their products, efficiency improvements can be made everywhere. After a recent investment in their packaging lines, the flower exporter was looking for a fast and accurate way to strap palletized boxes of flowers and bouquets. That is how they came across Reisopack's horizontal strapping machines.

Why flower and plant exporters?
The Netherlands is known for its lively trade in flowers and plants, to which the flower and plant auctions in Aalsmeer, Naaldwijk, and Rijnsburg are central. Many florists and retail organizations at home and abroad depend on traders and exporters to trade in flowers.

Usually, these companies source their products from the auction or buy them directly from the grower. Nowadays, retailers, in particular, make high demands in terms of quality and the timely delivery of products. To protect the flowers and plants during transport, they are often packed in cardboard boxes or specific retail crates before going to the customer. To protect them from falling or shifting during transport, good strapping is very important.

Mobile strapping machine for high production
During peak periods, there is often a build-up of pallets at the end of a production line or conveyor belt which cannot be dealt with by one machine. One solution is to buy more machines, but this requires a large investment and some of these machines may come to a standstill during less busy periods.

Reisopack has a solution to this problem in the form of a mobile horizontal strapping machine with automatic corner slats. This machine can strap up to 4 pallets in a row, allowing the pallet locations to be continuously fed with new pallets. The machine then drives from pallet to pallet in order to strap these, with the option of choosing from different strapping programs.

Fixed strapping machine combined with stacking robots
The exporter was also looking for a solution to quickly and accurately strap pallets in combination with an automated production line. Together with One-Off Solutions (partner of Niverplast), they chose the Reisopack 2905 High speed. Together with two robot palletizers that stack the boxes on pallets at the beginning of the pallet transport system, the pallets with flower boxes are strapped by the horizontal strapping machine at the end of the cycle in under a minute, after which the ready-made pallet can be driven away.
