Sales figures Royal FloraHolland

December, a profitable month for flower and plant growers

In December, the turnover of the cut flowers was 18% higher than in 2020. Striking is that the chrysanthemums, amaryllis and tulips in paticular received higher prices, the average price was almost 50% higher. The amount of stems of the cut flowers was slightly less, -2.3%.

These are the figures from Royal FloraHolland of last month. Also the houseplants business was profitable: 5% more turnover at an average of 8.6% higher prices, with a slightly lower supply (-3.3%). Finally, garden plants also yielded more (5.6%), but both turnover (-9.5%) and supply (-14.2%) were lower.

Looking back, it is also noticeable that the differences in amount of stems, prices and sales between December 2020 and the last 'normal', pre-corona December 2019 are not so different. The dramatic early spring was followed by a fantastic summer, but in the winter months the purchases stagnated a bit. Over the whole of 2021, however, it remained at high levels and briefly ended last month with very positive figures.
