New construction subsidised for seven greenhouse horticulture businesses in North Holland

Three greenhouse horticulture businesses in the Alton greenhouse horticulture area and four businesses in the Aalsmeer region have received subsidies to relocate and modernize their operations. The subsidy comes from the Plattelandsontwikkelingsprogramma (Rural Development Programme) (POP3), specifically the section on relocating greenhouse horticultural businesses.

The three companies from Alton will receive a total of 2.15 million euros. Nearly 9 hectares of greenhouses at the three companies will be demolished and exchanged with about 6 hectares of modern greenhouses in Alton. The total investment of the three companies together amounts to approximately € 25 to € 30 million.

The four companies within Greenport Aalsmeer will receive € 2.25 million. Together they are demolishing more than 8.5 hectares of greenhouses and building 8.5 hectares of modern greenhouses in return. In three cases, it is an expansion of existing business establishments. The concentration and new construction will improve efficiency and increase sustainability. The total investment of the four companies together amounts to approximately € 40 to € 45 million.

Late last year, the Provincial Executive decided to increase the subsidy for 2021 from €3,570,000 to €4,447,440.
