"Celebrate national farmworker awareness week"

What:           National Farmworker Awareness Week       

When:           March 25-31, 2022

How can you help:

  • Download your free communications toolkit, share key messages and graphics provided in EFI’s free Farmworker Awareness Week Communications Toolkit. These graphics can be customized or create content of your own.
  • Amplify the message that farmworkers are #AlwaysEssential by:
  1. Sharing the Communications Toolkit and information across the agricultural industry
  2. Share the graphics and videos included in the Communications Toolkit, or create unique content for social media highlighting Farmworker Awareness Week and using #AlwaysEssential
  3. Providing “live” content for social media channels featuring farmworker interviews detailing their jobs, safety precautions they take, and the skills/knowledge they bring to their work
  4. Asking state governors or legislative officials to draft a proclamation supporting Farmworker Awareness Week (a template is available in the communications toolkit)
  5. Hosting events in celebration of farmworkers
  6. Contacting local media and asking them to share information about the role of agriculture and farmworkers in local economies during Farmworker Awareness Week  

Why:  Nearly 2.5 million farmworkers are on farms and ranches, greenhouses and packing facilities across the United Sates, performing hard and skilled labor.

Where:  This is an online event for everyone to participate in. There is no cost. Organizations are encouraged to share social media content, or plan in-person events to raise awareness and/or celebrate farmworkers.

Who:  Equitable Food Initiative, the workforce development and certification organization that partners with growers, farmworkers, retailers and consumer advocacy groups, is celebrating National Farmworker Awareness Week by encouraging growers, agricultural associations, state agriculture agencies, food companies, retailers and consumers to share messages honoring the farmworkers that make it possible for Americans to have access to high-quality, fresh and safer food every day of the year.
