Tree nursery turnover is almost the same for 2021 as for 2020

The figures in the tree nursery for 2021 are good, but sales growth is stagnating slightly. The excellent autumn of 2020 will not be equaled, which, in fact, was not the expectation.

That is one of the conclusions in Van Oers' new 'Tree Nursery' sector update, which outlines the most important developments within the sector and expresses an expectation for the developments in the coming period.

Theunis Mulders, director of Van Oers Agro, explains the main findings: "The tree nursery sector is taking a step further in the development cycle." "Last autumn was good but did cause a slight decrease in sales. On the other hand, a substantial increase in turnover is still visible among growers of stems and shrubs. The good years in the sector have led to additional investments and expansions. It can be seen that the number of companies has increased for the first time in years."

Expectations for the coming spring are good: "There are more available products at most companies. As a result, the delivery season can be continued for a long time in good weather conditions. Challenges remain in terms of sufficient personnel and the availability of raw materials. Growers will therefore continue to look at how business processes can be made more efficient, both in terms of personnel and in the use of raw materials."
