The French agtech company specializing in energy-efficient greenhouse technology was recently awarded the 2022 SIVAL silver medal for its Tubutube system. The Tubutube is a flexible black sleeve that is placed between rows of plants and filled with water, working like a “horizontal hydro-accumulator” to capture heat during the heat and release it during the night.
As Vincent explains, the Tubutube can be installed in any greenhouse, requires no maintenance and has no operating costs. Depending on the geographic area and the crop, the Tubutube produces energy savings of approximately 50-100 kWh per square meter. The system comes in three grades and boasts a return-on-investment of one to four years. The system is patented.
The Tubutube® system was developed by Agrithermic and Astredhor, the former having previously received the SIVAL gold medal for its Hortinergy software which calculates greenhouse energy consumption and allows growers to compare different scenarios to improve energy efficiency. With the Tubutube system, Agrithermic is continuing its push for energy-efficient greenhouse systems.
Agrithermic will receive the silver medal for its Tubutube system at the SIVAL tradeshow in Angers, France from March 15-17th, 2022.
