Ledgnd lighting consultancy firm is celebrating its 2,5 year anniversary. Founders Joris Elstgeest, Matthea Rijneker and Richard and Ramón van de Vrie combined their experience in greenhouse horticulture and the lighting industry respectively at the end of 2019 and translated this into a working method with which they want to help growers find the best suitable LED solution. With some delays due to COVID, it came to a knowledge meeting about LED last year and 46 projects have already opted to be guided by Ledgnd over the course of the last six months.

On LinkedIn, Director of Operations Ramón reflects on the anniversary and how it came to be.
In 2019, my adventure began in Hong Kong where I did my minor at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong - Advancement and Alumni Affairs Office co-facilitated by the HZ University of Applied Sciences.
There I met Teddy Y.M. Lo and soon I started talking to him about Dutch greenhouse farming. Because I liked Hong Kong so much, I decided to do my final internship there as well.
In 2020, I went to do research on supplemental lighting and the needs growers have for lighting solutions. I came into contact with growers worldwide and it quickly became apparent that growers needed brand-independent support for the LED purchase, integration and optimization.
Through an article in Groentennieuws.nl about my internship in Hong Kong, I came into contact with Joris Elstgeest and Matthea Rijneker.
They also saw the added value of a brand-independent consultancy. As soon as I returned to the Netherlands, my father Richard van de Vrie and I went straight to Elstgeest Potplanten in Roelofarendsveen to meet them in person.
That clicked well and we quickly came to the conclusion that we would start the brand-independent consultancy Ledgnd in October 2020.
Six months later, I needed someone to join me in the venture and Jordi van der Meijden was the ideal man for the job.
We came into contact with B-Mex, an innovative company run by Fokke Buwalda and Peter van Beveren. We saw the added value in each other and that if we joined forces, we could set up something really beautiful. That is what we did and that was the beginning of our innovative portal www.myledgnd.com.
The first customers had confidence in us and we were able to get started. Stef de Jong from Decorum Company read about our foundation and suggested that we hold a knowledge meeting about LED. Unfortunately, due to COVID, this was postponed for 1.5 years, but in the end we were still able to do this!
We entered into cooperation with beautiful companies: Viscon Group, Inventeers Research & Development B.V., Vattenfall Dynova Innovatieadvies B.V., Powerplus Group and PhenoVation B.V.
Maarten van Bemmel joined the team in the summer of 2021, which gave us an enormous boost.
Last six months, 46 projects chose Ledgnd's guidance. We are all very proud of that.
