“Introduction to Therapeutic Horticulture,” a six-week online class, will be offered starting from May 23 through the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service. Students will have access to the course one week before the start date and for an additional six months after the course ends. Participation is limited.
This is the first in a series of online courses on the theory, practice and profession of therapeutic horticulture. It includes the use of plants and nature for physical, social, emotional and cognitive wellness and for meeting spiritual needs.
A discussion of the profession of therapeutic horticulture, related practices and ways to pursue further study will conclude the course. The course is suitable for anyone interested in learning more about the use of plants for therapeutic purposes, including allied health professionals and other practitioners who want to learn how to integrate this into their own disciplines.
