Good Mother's Day week 2022 at Veiling Rhein-Maas

Veiling Rhein-Maas has recorded an overall satisfactory Mother's Day week in 2022. The importance of Mother's Day business remains high across all market channels. It was the strongest sales week of the year so far at Veiling Rhein-Maas, even though Mother's Day week 2022 was not comparable to the previous year. This year, the exceptionally high price level from 2021 was not achieved at the auction. Nevertheless, cut flowers consistently achieved a satisfactory price level with higher availability of products compared to 2021.

Overall, customers were pleased with the quantity of available products, the broad assortment, and the general price level in line with the market. There is currently some uncertainty among customers and suppliers about the impact of the current political situation and the increase in costs.

Customers use different purchasing channels
There is still a very high level of customer participation in Remote Buying and Clock pre-sales. Furthermore, the Webshop continues to develop positively – more and more customers are using it as a complementary purchasing option. The Clock Service also recorded a higher demand than in the previous year for both indoor plants and cut flowers.

Popular products
The strongest sales days of Mother's Day week were Monday 2 May 2022 to Wednesday 4 May 2022. At Clock Service, customers increasingly asked for ready-made products, as staffing challenges also play an important role for them. At the auction clock, Eustoma, bouquets, and arrangements, as well as peonies, were particularly popular with customers in the cut flower segment. Regarding potted plants, hanging baskets, orchids, patio plants as well as high-quality bowls and arrangements were in high demand.
