US (OR): Swan Island Dahlias grows dahlias for festival

Flowers truly are Mother Nature’s most colorful artwork; it’s as if she took a canvas of all the colors of the rainbow and painted the landscape of the Earth. In Oregon, tulips and peonies are popular, as, of course, are roses, the fanciful flower for which Rose City is named. Dahlias, though, are a bit of a floral dark horse; these whimsical, petal-packed flowers bloom in a variety of colors all throughout the summer and into the autumn. Here in Oregon, Swan Island Dahlias is a flourishing flower farm that’s like something from a dream; come and visit this Canby treasure, and you’ll see what we mean.

A family-owned and operated business for nearly a century, Swan Island Dahlias is the largest dahlia grower in the U.S. Each year, the farm's 40 acres shine bright with the bold orange, bright pink, and golden yellow hues of thousands and thousands of dazzling dahlias.

The bloom's peak coincides with the annual Dahlia Festival, which typically takes place the last week in August and the first week in September. It's a perennial favorite and a must-visit festival in the Beaver State. Swan Island Dahlias cultivate and grows 370 different varieties of dahlias.
